YES! Hendo Hoverboards
Good news, Futurists and Marty McFly wannabees—a few months back, Hendo Hoverboards, the world’s first real hoverboard was successfully funded on Kickstarter, and is scheduled to be ready on October 21, 2015—the exact date Marty travels to the future and rides a hoverboard in “Back To The Future II”. Heavy.
TAKE MY MONEY!
Named one of Time magazine’s Best Inventions of 2014, the Hendo Hoverboard is the result of the tireless effort of a crack engineering team that continues to improve the Hendo every week, delivering a frictionless ride on an elegantly designed board that lets you coast an inch in the air, enjoying full control as you ride. It’s even been tested and approved by skating legend Tony Hawk. For now, the Hendo can only work on metal surfaces, since the four hover engines that propel it use a magnetic field to keep it levitating, but the hope is to develop the technology so that one day the Hendo can be used on any surface—even water.
Whitebox Technology
In fact, to get there even faster, the folks at Hendo offer a Whitebox technology kit to see what tinkerers around the world can do with their groundbreaking Magnetic Field Architecture (MFA) technology, whether it’s building new trains that run on magnets instead of wheels or even buildings designed to be earthquake-proof. Until that day comes, Hendo is also working on building the world’s first hoverpark, inspired by the raddest traditional skate parks around but tricked with metal surfaces and cutting edge technological design. Smells like the future to us.
